Thank you for this wonderful post regarding Notre Dame, which reduced me to tears several times, but how I wish you were still blogging. Yours is a voice that should not be stilled.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01282020906256854351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6574198575168538104.post-32153770531009574812019-04-18T15:17:10.669-05:002019-04-18T15:17:10.669-05:00extremely well written and scholarly. At the risk ...extremely well written and scholarly. At the risk of seeming to boast, I have been to Notre Dame many times, sometimes without the intention of visiting or going for Mass, but it drew me irresistibly to it, like a spiritual magnet, and each time I discovered something new. Like yourself, I was there for the 850th jubilee in 2013 and marveled at the scrubbed clean exterior, the new lighting, sound system and the bells. But it was still the same Notre Dame, forever new, always to dazzle the mind and heart. There are of course numerous other French cathedrals named Our Lady--- Chartres springs inevitably to the forefront, with unmatched beauty and inspiration. However, Paris always takes preference over the others. But whatever contemporary secular culture wants to make of it--- it is uniquely, exclusively, eternally a Catholic church, built to give divine worship to the Triune God through the honor of Blessed Mary, its patron. Priez pour nous, Sainte Marie de Paris.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13695484729935368064noreply@blogger.com
