Dear friends, if any of you out there are very proficient Latinists, I could use some help with translations. I'd like to make some articles comparing not only the Sarum Mass, but also the Sarum forms of baptism, confirmation, marriage, and burial to their Tridentine counterparts. Regrettably, my own Latin isn't anywhere near good enough to translate entire pages of text.
This will be a lot of work for no pay, but if you're interested, let me know and I can send you the relevant texts.
Please email me about this at LDFinn10 at gmail dot com. I can't start until the third week of November, however.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much Latin, but I'd like to learn, so if anyone knows any useful links to start my studies, I'd certainly appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to contact Fr. Aidan Keller, A Russian Orthodox priest in Texas who used to serve the Sarum Rite. He has translated many Latin Sarum texts.

Also you could peruse some of the 'Western Orthodox' sites like
OrthodoxWest@yahoogroups.com
they have posted many things relating to Sarum in the past, although they are definitely not 'friendly' to many, just a warning....
